LUMINOUS: Tales For Seeing In The Dark

OUR SATURDAY TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT. PLEASE JOIN OUR WAITING LIST! MORE TICKETS MAY BECOME AVAILABLE. 👁✨

LUMINOUS is a powerful celebration of the thinning of the veil between worlds, gifting us a unique way to honor our ancestors, the beloved departed, and even aspects of ourselves that we may have buried. Through story, song, community, a journey into the earth and our own hearts, LUMINOUS is a beautiful balm that will help bring light to these coming darker months of introspection.

It is a celebration of life, by honoring grief, impermanence, and the wisdom of the unseen world. Together with BLOOM, this second offering of hope and healing completes an important story of life's most essential cycles of birth and death. At the heart of LUMINOUS are gifts shared to find light in the dark through re/connection and song. LUMINOUS is a living reminder that we are held by nature, love and magic, and that we hold the alchemizing, transformative powers of creativity.

You are invited on a rare journey where performance meets the unexpected.

Circle’s upcoming fall offering will take place at 5pm (SOLD OUT) and 8pm on October 29th & 30th, just before Halloween, Día de Los Muertos, All Souls' Day, and Samhain marking the end of the regenerative warmer seasons and the approach of winter’s stillness. This liminal doorway recognizes the thinning of the veil between worlds, the essential lessons of impermanence, and the gifts of the dark.

LUMINOUS takes you into the cavernous heart of the Earth through contemplative story and song. This exquisite interactive experience will remind us that even in the coldest, darkest times we are held by beauty, that we are magic, and that each of us can be a light in the dark. We will offer two consecutive evenings to ponder and honor the importance that death, grief, and the dark carry…for there is no day without night.

DETAILS:

Advance Tickets are Required and will sell out quickly.

WHEN: Oct. 29th and 30th, 5pm (SOLD OUT) or 8pm

WHERE: The Widow Jane Mine 668 NY-213, Rosendale, NY 12472

HOW: $47 exchange

On this journey participants will be walking through a cave while experiencing each scene. There will be some locations for sitting. Wear non-slip footwear with good tread because the cave holds its own microclimate and can be damp.

This rare dream-like experience will be a time to drop out of the day-to-day mind. We are asking that there be no talking so you can be fully present for yourself. However, singing along, sounding or honoring of grief is encouraged. Be thoughtful and considerate of others so as to maintain a sense of deeper witnessing and experiencing.

No Children under age12, and only those who can remain quiet, near their guardian, and be mature enough to be able to witness content that touches on death and loss.

Come dressed, if you like, in a costume that honors and fits the intention of this event (NO horror, gore, or commercial characters please). We will have some beautiful nature crowns to purchase upon entry as a fundraiser for our partner local immigrant women. Some costume ideas are: nature spirits and elementals, animal spirits, or ancestors.

With the purchase of your ticket, YOU ARE AGREEING TO:

  • This is a substance-free event and we hold the right to refuse entry or remove anyone displaying any disruptive behavior.

  • No "Talking" during the entire LUMINOUS experience and if you must, whisper only.

  • Please turn off or silence phones.

  • Experience this event in real life so you can be as present as possible. (Please limit your impulse to take photos)

  • Wear non-slip footwear with good tread. The stone floor is almost always damp

  • Walk slowly and carefully and watch the ground for bumps while moving

  • Circle Creative Collective will not be held responsible in the event of any slips or falls, or if this performance brings up strong emotions.

  • Please be on time as this experience will begin and depart from the welcome area at a particular time. Each scene has a beginning, middle and end, unlike our last performance of Bloom which had a revolving storyline.

Ancestral Luminaries

Who wants to drop off freshly carved pumpkins to light our paths for the event? (They can be simply made as well, don’t let these pics intimidate.)

As you create your jack-o-lantern, either think of someone you've lost and loved, a relative you never knew and want to know more about, or a lost dream you hold. Keep that intention from start to finish and really open yourself to whatever emotions want to flow through that. Your pumpkin can look like the person you are "calling in" or simply think about them as you are creating something that is nature-inspired, uniquely creative or simply beautiful.

Pumpkins can be dropped off no more than 2 days before the event at the Century House/ Widow Jane Mine (668 NY-213, Rosendale, NY 12472) lower parking lot by the grey shed or just outside of our New Paltz Studio (62 Plains Rd. outside of the blue schoolhouse).
